What certifications do you need to be considered for admission to a CRNA program?

The GRE test is a standardized test used as an admissions requirement by a large number of graduate schools in the United States. This exam measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking skills. One of the admission criteria for most nurse anesthesia educational programs is obtaining a minimum GRE cumulative score or 290. If you took the Revised Graduate Record Exam (GRE) in the past, then your minimum score should be 1000.

The score obtained on this exam must be available at the time you submit your application. In addition to the GRE, some individuals need to take the TOEFL exam and obtain a minimum score of 250. International students are always required to take the TOEFL exam. Some schools of nursing either require or strongly recommend obtaining the following certifications prior to enrollment: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and CCRN certification for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Nurses.
